SOLD OUT
London born, Irish raised singer songwriter Maverick Sabre has his name ringing round the world right now and rightly so. Recently described by Huw Stephens as a male Amy Winehouse and with Music Week declaring him the highlight of SXSW 2010, his gritty yet soulful voice is drawing audiences in and leaving them hooked. From Wexford to London, Montego Bay to Austin, Maverick has silenced crowds with his catchy lamenting social-political content. Still a teen, this young rising star is generating a huge buzz and has been tipped by Hot Press as the Irish newcomer who will give the established artists serious competition. His critically acclaimed, self-produced debut single Sometimes is going down a storm and has resulted in Sabre catching the attention of some of the hottest producers currently on the scene, including Chase & Status, True Tiger and Future Cut who are rumored to be working on his debut album. As well as writing new material and laying strong foundations for what is sure to be a hugely successful future, Maverick has been featured by BBC TV as part of their series Jail Tales, snapped up a sponsorship deal with Boxfresh as well as performing for the legendary BBC Maida Vale Sessions which resulted in his live performances being broadcast nationwide. Rapidly rising from strength to strength, Maverick has been asked to tour alongside the Mercury award winning Speeche Debelle, chart topper Plan B as well as Mr Hudson and Chase & Status. The summer of 2010 looks set to be sizzling for Maverick who has recently signed to premier booking agency William Morris who are packing the British festival circuit full with a healthy dose of this young protégé. Maverick Sabre is definitely the one to watch.

KILLING JOKE
The Icarus Line
The Crying Spell
Friday 16th March 2012
7.30pm
£19.50 advance
IF MANKIND truly is hell-bent on destruction, then what noises will reverberate around the void after we take our final breaths and abandon the planet to its own, pure heartbeat?
Like the armoured cockroaches crawling from bomb-blast wreckage, Killing Joke have spent the last 30 years providing the world with a suitably deep, dark, dogmatic soundtrack to its own calamitous descent into chaos, and as the momentum of the modern age gains ever more urgency, the band are once again poised to hit the philosophical nail squarely on the head…
FORMED IN London, England, in October 1978, Killing Joke was the brainchild of classically-trained musician & vocalist Jeremy ‘Jaz’ Coleman and drummer ‘Big’ Paul Ferguson, who eagerly recruited two like-minded comrades in the form of guitarist Kevin ‘Geordie’ Walker and bassist Martin ‘Youth’ Glover and set about establishing a brand new and highly idiosyncratic manifesto for reinventing the rock ‘n’ roll wheel.

THE HORRORS
Tuesday 22nd May 2012
7.30pm
£14.00 advance
To understand The Horrors you need to understand what it takes to be a free and independent spirit in 2012 -to do things in your own way and on your own terms at a time when nearly everyone is else is desperate to fit in and all too happy to follow. And that is exactly what The Horrors have been pulling off ever since they emerged from Southend on Sea back in 2005. They burst onto the scene like the teenage mutant offspring of The New York Dolls and The Jesus and Mary Chain. They were a shock to the body-rock, doing everything rock n roll at its purest and prettiest is supposed to do– energise, excite, divide and polarise. The early Horrors shows were an explosive and vital reminder that great pop music is primarily made by the young, for the young. As a consequence they made a lot of people feel very old and tired indeed.
